Had previous electrical work done well on a fault external breaker box for a hot tub. (It caught fire previously) It went again, so I called them again. A guy came out, didn't ask to have the power shut off, spent 5 minutes and said the problem was the hot tub so I had to call Artic Spa. It was over a very cold weekend so I had to purchase a space heater to make sure the tub didn't freeze, had the hot tub people come out four days later and, in the same amount of time, confidentially said it was the breaker and it was fixed immediately. I got charged $100+ by Jones for the non-work and, when I complained was told, "We talked with our guy and agree with the work he did." No details. I'm shocked you agreed with your own guy about the work he didn't do. Just lazy and dismissive. Won't use again.
We don’t give a lot of thought to our electrical system. Then, a few weeks ago, on a windy Sunday in November, our next-door neighbours had a tree limb fall on their service line. The resulting surge cause them to loose all power and destroyed their boiler, water heater, fridge, microwave and other appliances. There was the acrid smell of burning electronics. Their hard-wired smoke detectors were dead.They called Jones Electric of Kitchener. We live in Cambridge, but Jones is one of the few electrical services that will respond on a weekend. While they worked, one of the Jones crew mentioned the value of a whole house surge protector. “A couple hundred bucks, plus installation, and your appliances are safe - it’s a no-brainer” he said. “Costs a lot less than replacing your micro-wave”.We called our insurance agent, who agreed it was a smart move.So after Christmas, we called Jones and had a surge protector installed on our panel.We found Jones Electric to be quick to respond, easy to work with, efficient and thorough. We have had two Jones electricians in our house and found them to be professional and courteous.We even had a personal call from Andy Jones, the owner, to make sure we were satisfied with their work.We assured Andy that we now consider Jones to be our first call for electrical needs. We recommend Jones Electric of Kitchener without hesitation.
The communication was good and work was done well so no complaints there.My experience turned disappointing when Jones Electric sent me the invoice where they charged me for their technician drive time to my location + time to do paperwork etc which i had not been told about. I wish they would be upfront about this.Harry
Fantastic experience from initial contact to completion. I had my residential electrical panel upgraded from fuses to breakers. Eveyone I dealt with was kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Would definitely recommend and would definitely use again.
"My experience with Jones Electric was extremely disappointing. The technician only spent 45 minutes on inspection (confirmed with camera footage, and half of that time was just small talk), yet they tried to bill me for 1.5 hours of labor. When I questioned this, they said the extra time was for 'driving.' I even accepted their $2300 repair offer, but it was clear their priority was money, not finding solutions. They used to be better two years ago, but now I would strongly recommend thinking twice before hiring them."
